Patiently awaiting
The day and what may be
Floating gently tethered
A boat upon the sea

Will the sun shine brightly
Or will showers fill the sky
Will it bring you happiness
Or make you want to cry

The world out there is waiting
Ready to be explored
Challenges are waiting
And should not be ignored

For now, you’re softly anchored
The choice to move is yours
To seek new destinations
Discovering what’s in store

About The Poem Softly Anchored

Softly Anchored is an inspirational poem originally inspired by a painting by Uli Van Neyghem. As with many of my poems, it is a metaphor for life. Sometimes we are softly anchored in a comfortable place. We can lift the anchor at any time and go somewhere else, but we don’t do it. Why, because we are comfortable where we are. It’s a nice place, but we aren’t moving forward. Do we bask in our comfort and stay where we are? Or do we pull up the anchor and go exploring? The only thing that is holding is where we are is us. Most times it is more comfort than fear that is holding us back.

Maybe you just need to pull up your anchor and see where the wind blows you. Having a destination in mind is probably a better choice. Going with the flow in a Covid world is probably not the best decision. Figure out where you want your life to go. It may be a physical journey or it may just be a personal one. In either case, you have the ability and the choice is yours. Get ready for your next journey, wherever it may take you.

Inspirational Poetry Books

Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
