A final bit of sunlight
Dancing through the trees
A daily fond farewell
To everything it sees

This is a time of magic
Where light and dark can dance
Racing towards an ending
Of passionate romance

The light is slowly fading
And colors slowly change
Creating different pictures
While the shadows rearrange

As stars begin to twinkle
And the night begins to fall
The actors await tomorrow
And another curtain call

About The Poem Night Falls

Night Falls is about that time at sunset when the light starts to interact with all the features of the landscape. Trees, mountains, light and shadow are actors in a continuous play. A performance that changes from day to day. Never quite the same but always familiar. Some days the sun is late, other days early. Some times of the year the trees have leaves, others they are naked branches allowing more of the light shine through. And then there are the colors – blues, greens, oranges and reds. Never the same performance twice. Take the time to notice the differences as night falls.

We often take them for granted but these are once in a lifetime performances. We get stuck in our busy world and focus on problems of the day and not the beauty around us. You might find that days pass slower if you take time to enjoy the performance that is is going on. There are plenty of scenes to take in on a daily basis. Every day can be different, providing a new view of what nature holds for us. Enjoy these images while you can.

Inspirational Poetry Books

Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
