Does it draw you inward
Or perhaps scare you away
Do you hear the call to paint
Or something else today
Will the muse embrace you
And share her secrets true
Or seem to just ignore you
Leaving nothing you can do
Is one scene met with anger
And the other met with joy
Is there fear your passion
May somehow be destroyed
There is another answer
This is just time to grow
Embracing all life’s changes
Will soon see passions flow
About the Poem The Blank Canvas
The Blank Canvas is an inspirational poem about the creative process. What does a blank canvas says to you? Is it an opportunity to create something new, or is represent pressure to create something worthy of public adoration? For artists, there is a expectation that we can approach a blank canvas much the same way that a 5 year old approaches crayons and paper. They don’t recoil in fear that they might create something that won’t be liked. They just start drawing and no one is going to judge their green cows and their people with extra arms. For people who create works of art on a regular basis, sometimes the muse just isn’t there. They don’t want to just paint with abandon and see how it turns out. They want to create something purposeful, but sometimes that motivation just isn’t there.
This can be a painful process when you suddenly find that you can’t connect with the creativity that usually fields your work. Don’t panic! Maybe you just need a break. Focusing on what you can’t do just creates stress that compounds the experience. Even creativity needs a break sometime. Take a break and clear your mind. Do something else for awhile. Your creative muse will eventually come back to you.

Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
