Not how you planned things
A plot twist is revealed
Things are set in motion
And your fate is somehow sealed
Who is it that makes the rules
Are there other ways to turn
Are we only left staring
At the candle as it burns
It’s not how you imagined
Even when you know the rules
And nothing now can change things
Not gold or precious jewels
The clock is nearing midnight
The dream about to fade
We can only count the moments
And the choices that we made
About the Poem And Yet Here We Are
The poem And Yet Here We Are is about those things we didn’t see coming. It could be as simple as job loss, or as complicated as a divorce or cancer diagnosis. One minute things are fine, and the next they are not. Is it the end or the beginning. It could be both. There’s probably a playbook, and people who have gotten through this, but where are they? You might as well be floating on a raft in the middle of the ocean. There are a few people on Earth that know what that feels like, but for the rest of us it’s more of an analogy. If I had pictured someone losing their job, moving out of their home, or laying in a hospital bed, some of you would relate, others wouldn’t. We all have our own raft in the middle of the ocean. The question is – what do you do next? There is probably someone that has the answer. You just have to find them.
Poetry Books
Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
