A moment to be famous
A chance to know true love
Letting go of the past
And somehow rise above
There are questions in the wanting
When we assess our worth
Comparing ourselves to others
All around the earth
Is there someone better
Or perhaps a little worse
Are we ready for the performance
Or should we still rehearse
These are the choices that scare us
They move us to new places
And once we have done them
Put smiles on our faces
About the The Choices That Scare Us
The poem The Choices That Scare Us is about those big things in our life. They make us question everything, mostly am I good enough and will this work. We run scenarios through our mind and question whether we are worthy of success – or love. Will we be ridiculed, embarrassed, or simply told no. All of these things hold us back. We somehow tell ourselves that not knowing is better than knowing. Anxiety and fear is often perceived as better than rejection. Yes you are going to strike out more times than you hit home runs, but it’s the home runs that people remember.
That is unless you are Vinko Bogataj, and then everyone remembers you as “The agony of defeat”. At the International Ski Flying Championships in Oberstdorf, West Germany in March 1970, he had a spectacular fall that was broadcast hundreds of times on ABC’s Wide World of Sports for over 20 years. Living behind the iron curtain, Vinko was largely unaware of his “fame”, until a couple decades later. He had long since gotten patched up and was back competing the following season. Eventually he became a very successful painter.
You never know whether you are going crash and burn. Just do it and find out. You never know what direction things might go in. You might just find yourself smiling.

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
