Moments that are fleeting
And memories that last
Wishes for the future
And reminders from the past

We can’t control the order
Or the timing of events
And those that we wish for
Or those that we lament

Appreciate the moments
Hold on with both hands
Toss care to the wind
And see just where it lands

There is magic in the darkness
If we learn to see the light
Creating lasting moments
That can change the darkest night

About the Poem Catch a Falling Star

The poem Catch a Falling Star is about how we wish we could capture special moments and hold on to them for when we want them most. It’s not realistic, but most of us have had a moment like this at some point in our lives. The perfect shot when your phone is dead. Going to the bathroom when the winning run is scored. The casual meeting with someone incredible where you lose their phone number. The first steps that occur while you are on a business trip. (Insert yours here) We often beat ourselves up over would have, could have, and should have.

Everything happens the way it is supposed to. That can be a hard reality to stomach when some of those things are life changing in a negative way. But life is about learning to appreciate the time we have, the events as they have been laid out, and the outcomes in which they unfold. Some may be pretty dark, but there is light in there somewhere. And once you learn to see it, you can appreciate that it had to be dark for you see it in the first place.

Poetry Books

Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
