Light and color interact
The wind adds to the show
Dancing leaves and branches
Create drama down below

We watch and also listen
The shows about to start
A timeless dance of passion
Connecting with our heart

It’s not just for our benefit
Though partially it’s true
Rediscovering the connections
All of us once knew

Underneath an emerald canopy
Nature takes the stage
A story for the ages
Leaps right off the page

About the Poem Under an Emerald Canopy

The poem Under an Emerald Canopy is about the drama of a forest. If we stop long enough, there’s a lot going on. The colors of the trees interact with the light and sky above. The trees move in the wind, and you can hear and feel it. The show is always playing, and it’s never the same. There’s always something a little different. Nature is not rehersed; it is constantly improvising. Always the same actors, but the performance is a little different each time. It’s a story told every minute of every day. We just need to pay attention long enough to listen.

Poetry Books

Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
