Ask for what you’re lacking
Ask for what you need
But mostly ask for wisdom
That all of us should heed

When we exist in silence
There is no interchange
A missed opportunity
For our world to rearrange

Each of us has something
To give or simply share
Sometimes it may change a life
Or simply show we care

What is it you’ll ask for
The time is now to speak
So ask and get the answers
And knowledge that you seek

About the Poem Ask

The poem Ask is about the importance of asking for what you want. Miracle Laurie May posted a tweet recently about asking, that this was a response to. Often times our upbringing might label this as being selfish and dissuade us from asking for what we really want. The reality is asking (done correctly) is about establishing the connections that are supposed to take place. When we ask we are reaching beyond ourselves. Sure, we will be told no many times, but maybe we are asking the wrong questions. Think of it as having a large key ring and approaching a closed door. One of the keys may open the door, maybe it won’t. Maybe it’s the wrong key, or maybe it’s the wrong door. Once and a while the door will open and something magical will happen.

Years ago, my daughter wanted to be an astronaut. Many kids go through this phase, but she was into it more than most, so we tried to further it. Being in the northeast, opportunities were limited. I happened to see that Neil Armstrong was speaking at a conference in Boston. Tickets for the conference were around $2000. I love my girls, but that was not in the picture. A few weeks before the conference I was able to contact the organizer and explained my situation and asked if there was any way we could meet Neil Armstrong. She emailed me back and said there would be 4 tickets waiting at check-in. It cost me nothing to ask and in this case it paid off. We actually have some of the last pictures ever taken of Neil Armstrong because he didn’t do photos.

Inspirational Poetry Books

Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
