Looking for some clarity
A chance to just be sure
Hoping for improvement
But praying for a cure
The pain we carry with us
Doesn’t go away
It comes to us as nightmares
And challenges our days
A smile at the ready
A mask for us to hide
But still the pain is present
Always deep inside
What we seek are answers
And clarity of choice
To know we have a purpose
And to trust our inner voice
About the Poem Medicine
The poem Medicine is about what everyone dealing with trauma is looking for. It doesn’t matter if it is addiction, abuse, or loss. There is no prize for the greatest pain. Everyone just wants a solution to make the pain stop. All too often people find permanent solutions to the temporary problem of pain. And if you have ever wondered, the police do not help you clean up after someone kills themself in your house.
Pain may be with us a long time, but others have found their way through it, and you can too. It just might take some experimentation to find out what works for you. It may be therapy, marijuana, psilocybin, yoga, art, running, writing, etc. If you haven’t found the right thing for you, keep looking, the answer is out there. The idea for this poem comes from Jim Belushi whom we met a few weeks ago. He has dealt with his own pain and would like people to find the medicine that works for them.

Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
