The view is somewhat different
An empty chair stares back
Reminders of a different time
And foundations that would crack
Going through the motions
Though everyone can see
A longtime favorite table
It is not what it used to be
What does this time show us
About love and life and fate
So much to consider
As you look beyond your plate
Perhaps it’s not the absence
But the promise of the chair
That it might one day be filled again
When love is in the air
About the Poem Table for One
The poem Table for One is about trying to be normal after a loss. You’ve spent a large portion of your life living as two people. Then one of you is gone, and you have to go about life doing the same things solo. Going out to dinner can be especially hard because it wasn’t just about the food, it was about the conversation and the person on the other side of the table. The idea for the poem originated from a line in the song “Paris” by my friend Louise Coombe. Check out her latest album by the same name.

Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
