It started in a kitchen
Many years ago
Before the dawn had broken
Amidst the falling snow

Everyone was sleeping
The magic was in play
The turkey in the oven
It was Thanksgiving Day

Then came the aromas
The baking of the pies
The scents that fill the household
As you open up your eyes

The table graced with china
And smells do fill the air
Just close your eyes and remember
And memory takes you there

Thanksgiving is an inspirational poem by Robert Longley. It recounts our days of childhood awaking to the smells of Thanksgiving dinner being cooked
